Is there actually an article this time of year that doesn’t start with the introduction “Valentine’s Day is just around the corner …”? I don’t think so. But we’ll try something different. Love should be celebrated every day. So why make an exception on February 14? And for Valentine’s Day 2023 in Vienna this year, we have a real insider tip that comes from the heart.
Rosa und Blau
Can you still remember? It seems like everyone went on a pilgrimage to the Prater in the summer of 2021. That’s where the charming Emilia Orth-Blau had set up her pop-up in the former Kolarik’s Himmelreich. On the menu were wonderful burger creations with the best organic ingredients. We already raved about it back then. But somehow we lost track of Emilia and her team.
But then we did some research and found out: The pop-up was a great success. Emilia finished her studies. She went traveling and got new inspiration. “I thought about what was really most important to me about my work,” she tells us in conversation. The result? The cooking itself and the contact with customers. And she definitely has that with her latest stunt. Because since October 2022, Emilia can be hired for Private Chef events. But what does that mean for Valentine’s Day 2023 in Vienna?
Let’s Celebrate Love Day
“Usually you can rent me. So I come to my guests’ homes with everything I need. Even the pans I bring myself. The cooking is done in the guests’ kitchens.” Now, Emilia can’t be with all the couples in love at the same time on Valentine’s Day. She is not Santa Claus. So on February 14, everyone will simply come to her in the kitchen. Well, not everyone, there will be a maximum of 40 guests. And it’s not her kitchen where they’ll be gathering, but the rented kitchen “Your Kitchen” in the first district.
Here, guests can feel as if they are at home thanks to the open kitchen concept. Emilie and her team pamper guests on Valentine’s Day with a special six-course menu. “I love consistencies,” reveals the young chef. That’s why each course features an ingredient in several different states of aggregation. On the menu, for example, are her famous “Onsen Egg,” beef tartare, transparent tomato soup and braised ox cheeks. A vegetarian option is also available.
The menu costs € 149,00 with alcoholic accompaniment, for € 134,00 you get the non-alcoholic drink accompaniment in addition. You must reserve your place for the dinner here. But be quick, because there are only 40 seats!
