The promise is a thoroughly enticing one. Because the QSuite is supposed to be a room with a lot of privacy – and above the clouds. But is that really the case? We share our QSuite experience with you and reveal what you can expect. And what not.
From Vienna to Sri Lanka
There are two kinds of people. Those who prefer to be at the terminal hours before departure. And those who prefer to arrive just before time. Those who have booked Business Class with Qatar Airways and fly out of Vienna don’t have to rethink their concept. For the early birds, there is a nice lounge with snacks, drinks and a view. But this is not worth mentioning. And for the just-in-time, priority boarding is available. In other words, you don’t have to book business class because of the Vienna lounge. Quite in contrast to the one in Doha, where we will be making a stopover. But more about that later.
It gets exciting when you board the plane. You stroll leisurely past the queue and enter the aircraft without any stress. A crew member welcomes you, introduces himself and accompanies you to your seat. And then it begins, the QSuite experience. The first thing that strikes you is the amount of space. The configuration is 1x2x1. Each seat is like a small cabin that you can close with sliding doors.
Amenities during your QSuite Experience
Numerous amenities await guests at the site. For example, a pillow and a blanket. So far, so good. The amenity kit, however, is of a very high quality. For a while it was from Brics, but there were also some from Diptique. In addition to socks and an eye mask, the amenities include pyjamas (for night flights), refreshing spray, toothpaste, lip balm and so on. The seat itself has numerous amenities, which the cabin staff patiently explain.
So I make myself comfortable and start enjoying the QSuite experience. My flight attendant has left, not without noting down all my wishes, of course. When would I like to eat? What would I like to eat? What can she delight me with right now? I stow my things away and press all the buttons that are hidden here. Parks & Recreation” (I haven’t seen it for ages!) flickers across the 22-inch screen, the entertainment on offer is huge.
I find comfortable over-ear headphones, storage space to my right under a padded shelf, the pull-out table, the reading lamp and a water bottle. The control buttons, charging sockets for power and the remote control for the entertainment centre are clearly visible under another shelf. No sooner have I made myself comfortable than Katie is back. She will take care of me for the entire flight from Vienna to Doha.
The Menu in QSuite
She drapes a small bowl of warm nuts on my table, accompanied by a glass of sparkling wine. I snack a little and allow myself to relax. Boarding in Economy Class hasn’t even started yet, and I’ve already had two glasses of champagne (excellent!). And I’m already looking forward to the menu. It will be put together according to my wishes from the items on the menu. And then served when I want it.
During my trip from Vienna to Sri Lanka, I had salmon tartar with three kinds of warm rolls, grilled vegetables with couscous and chocolate mousse for dessert. For the meal, the extendable table is transformed into a table. Tablecloth, china, cloth napkins and real cutlery included. The quality? Outstanding! There are many good restaurants that can’t compete with the food in the QSuite. Another advantage is the ample space, including WIFI, for those who want to use the long-haul flight for work.
Sleeping in the QSuite
If you want to have your peace and quiet, close the sliding door. The seat can be transformed into a completely flat lying surface, and there are additional mattresses to lay on top. This creates a real bed. By the way, the middle seats can be connected to form a shared two-person (and, if desired, four-person) cabin. So it’s not unusual to hear the question: “Can you have sex in the QSuite”? Without having tried it, let me tell you: The partition walls are only shoulder-high. If you walk by, you can see in. And Qatar Airways is Qatar’s state-owned airline. They probably don’t have much fun with these things.
The sleep quality is excellent and the seat is really comfortable in every position. So it doesn’t matter if the flight takes a little longer. Those flying via Doha can look forward to the beautiful lounge at Hamad International Airport. Here you could – if you were still hungry – choose from delicacies such as champagne and canapes, full menus, breakfast buffets and full dinners (free of charge!).
QSuite Experience: Worth the Hype?
To get ready for sleep or freshen up, there are four very generously sized toilets. They are equipped with amenities such as toothbrushes and razors. There are practically never any waiting times here. Another plus point!

Now to the nitty-gritty. What does a flight in the QSuite cost? Actually, that’s not so easy to answer. Because of course it depends on when you fly. And to where. And how many miles or Avios you have already collected. Generally speaking, the QSuite has often been named “best business class”. With mileage and promotional offers, it is also quite affordable. Especially if you have a long route ahead of you, want to use it for work and need to be fully operational the next day, you should seriously consider an upgrade. Only downside: You’ll never want to fly any other way ever again.
