As December draws to a close, it is traditionally time to look back. So we also want to report which accommodations we particularly liked in 2022. After all, we have sacrificially traveled the houses of this earth to test them for you. Well, we admit that our thoughts were not exclusively altruistic and that we had a lot of fun! And these are the 5 best hotels of 2022:
Grand Park Hotel Rovinj by Maistra Collection
Rovinj, Kroatien
The elegant 5-star luxury hotel inspires from the start. Due the ideal location the views are fantastic. You can see the old town of Rovinj – absolutely worth visiting as well. The best way to enjoy it is from the rooftop infinity pool with a tasty drink in hand. Breakfast on the terrace plays all the pieces, but the highlight is the Michelin Guide-tested Cap Aureo by Jefferey Vella, where you’ll be served Istrian culinary art at the highest level. Our top tip: A day of swimming on the private island vis a vis, to which you’ll be taken by the hourly departing yacht.

Hotel Corinthia
London, UK
One of the most exclusive London addresses, and the traditional hotel fully lives up to this claim. The location just a few minutes walk from Trafalgar Square, the excellent gastronomic offer in restaurants and bars, and the spa, which extends over 4 floors, all exceeded our expectations. Spacious and elegant rooms and the wonderfully decrated lobby (in the run-up to Christmas) provide a homely feel and the in-house flower store scents the whole area. The absolute service highlight, however, was the concierge. He called the room on the day of departure to ask if ginger tea should be served, as he had noticed that my health was a bit poor.

Fairmont Miramar
Los Angeles, USA
Unfortunately, we only had the pleasure of staying at the Miramar for one night, but we can definitely recommend it. In addition to the pools and the very good cuisine, the location stands out. The room overlooks the Pacific Ocean, which is only a few minutes’ walk away, as is the famous St. Monica Pier. We would also like to mention the excellent service staff, which was very friendly and concerned about our well-being. Tip: If you are as lucky as we were, you might run into Arnie himself at breakfast. He lives nearby.

Boat Hotel Matylda
Prag, Tschechien
The idea of spending a long weekend in Prague in December on a boat sounded a bit chilly at first. However, we can dispel any concerns to that effect – not a minute did we have to freeze! Located just a few minutes walk from the center of the Old Town it is also easily accessible from the train station. As for the interior of the floating hotel: It is functional, but at the latest when looking out of the window (or should I rather say “porthole”?) at the Vltava and its animal inhabitants, it becomes clear that the choice is the right one. The sister ship, anchored next door, houses a good restaurant that also serves breakfast for hotel guests for a small extra charge. Tip: Book a room with a river view if possible.

Thermal Hotel Das Sonnreich
Bad Loipersdorf, Österreich
This 4-star hotel is beautifully nestled in the hilly landscape of Thermenland. This may sound like the advertisement of an advertising brochure, but it is the truth, which you will notice at the latest at breakfast on the terrace. The rich and tasty regional breakfast and dinner buffet, the direct access to the thermal spa Loiperdorf and last but not least the outstanding cocktail creations (we reported) made our stay remarkable.
