The Palais Auersperg is undoubtedly a magnificent building steeped in history on Vienna’s Zweierlinie. Dating back to the Baroque period, it has a lively history behind it. It was the venue for performances of pieces by Mozart and Haydn, later the founding site of the “Provisional Austrian National Committee” and thus a central point of resistance, as well as the venue for the Rose Ball until 2014. In the last two summer seasons, Vienna’s most beautiful guest garden thrilled visitors here. Contrary to rumours to the contrary, there will also be a Palais Freiluft in 2023.
What are we looking forward to?
Not everything about this year’s programme is known yet, but the successful concept will remain. The date of the event is also already fixed: the “Shared Schanigarten” will be staged between 19.06.2023 and 02.09.2023. On an area of 5000 square metres, some top restaurateurs will demonstrate their skills from 4 to 2 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and from 11 a.m. on Saturdays. Spread across the area, a selection of restaurants and bars will do the honours and once again provide exclusive moments of enjoyment.
The capacity is limited to just under 350 visitors, who will find their place according to the motto first come, first serve. Among others, the Civediamo Bar will present its Select Aperitivo Italiano. There’s also Israeli street food from Taïm, a smashed burger pop-up from Rosa & Blau Food, ham from THUM, Haru Sushi, bubbles from Dosage Bar and much more.
The Hosts
A well-coordinated team of experienced Viennese restaurateurs steers the fortunes of the Prachtgarten. Dosage boss Friso Schopper came up with the idea, event professional Paul Rittenauer (Lvdwig Bar, among others) guarantees the smooth implementation of the concept, while Bert Jachmann (Liquid Market, among others) is responsible for the excellent drinks and will hopefully impart his spirits expertise again this year. True to the motto never change a winning team, nothing has changed from previous years..
What are we looking forward to at Palais Freiluft 2023?
In 2022, there was already the freizeitTafelnacht, where gifted chefs such as Alexander Mayer or Johann Schmuck served their guests fine dining of the highest quality. According to reports, this scheme will be continued or even expanded. We will, of course, stay on the ball with the latest developments for you.
In addition, similar to a pub quiz, Mondays will be dedicated to the park quiz. You and your friends will be able to measure your knowledge against others. We can’t wait and are really looking forward to the third edition of the Palais Freiluft.
