Hotel Review Jufenalm, Salzburg/Austria. Research Stay.
Location
Austria’s first “boho hotel” is located in an almost completely isolated location near the village of Maria Alm. More precisely: in the province of Salzburg. All around is one thing above all: beautiful and unspoiled nature. From the city of Salzburg you can reach the Jufenalm in a little under an hour and a half drive. The hotel is located at 1,150 meters above the Steinernes Meer.
In summer, a hiking and mountain biking paradise awaits guests right on the doorstep. And in winter, the hotel’s own ski shuttle takes guests to the valley station in Hintermoos in just a few minutes. From there it’s off to the 120 kilometers of slopes in the Hochkönig ski area.
Style & Character
The Jufenalm calls itself a “boho hotel”. This is indeed the predominant style throughout the house. Dried flowers, lots of jute, natural fabrics and colors dominate the interior. The hotel is a family business. The Rohrmoser family takes care of their guests with a lot of commitment.
The relaxed ambience and the “shabby chic” interior contribute to the fact that one feels comfortable as a guest. Provided, of course, that you are not allergic to house dust. Then it becomes a bit difficult due to the many dead plants and fabric particles whirling around – for example from the jute. As we have noticed ourselves.
Amenities & Services
Jufenalm has a restaurant with breathtakingly beautiful panorama. Other hotel facilities include a toboggan run. It leads almost directly from the hotel. Toboggans are conveniently available for rent. And once you’ve reached the bottom, you can be picked up by a toboggan cab. In addition, there is the already mentioned ski shuttle service.
Other facilities include a small wellness area. This consists of saunas, 36 degree hot whirlpool and outdoor adventure shower. In addition, there is a solarium and the natural bathing pond. The latter is actually nature. It is not heated in winter.
Rooms & Suites
The rooms and suites are of course also in boho style. Soft beds, floors and vanities in old wood style and and pretty decorative elements dominate. Rooms come in a variety of categories. And probably the most beautiful are those with exit to the natural pond.
Or those with a balcony. That’s a guess, though; we haven’t seen them live. There are also four Sky Suites with panoramic glass and great views. And some of the suites also have free-standing bathtubs and their own roof terraces.
Food & Drinks
As I said, the panorama in the restaurant is fantastic. The breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. We especially liked the different types of nuts and mush from KORO. Also great: You can have breakfast until 2 pm. The ingredients are regional, seasonal and fresh. For lunch, there are bowls, burgers and soups. Also on the menu: kasnock’n and schnitzel.
Also a highlight: In the evening there is excellent slow food. Alpine traditional cuisine meets modern “Bohemian Spirit”. The result is really something to behold. The service in the restaurant is attentive, friendly and competent.
What we loved
The location is fantastic. Especially in winter, Jufenalm is a romantic hideaway for couples. The style is consistent throughout the house. The staff is warm and available. Also, we really liked the tobogganing. And another such nice detail are the rental backpacks in the rooms.
What we’d love to see at our next stay
Well, it’s probably not that easy to change. But: In our room the toilet had a glass door. In our honest hotel review Jufenalm we have to mention that, of course. Actually also do not know when it became fashionable to build no more normal toilets.
Perfect for
The Jufenalm is a great hideaway for couples. And romance fans.
