The Balearic Islands are always in high demand. And they are also increasingly becoming a foodie hotspot. Gourmets travelling to Spain can now look forward to a noble new addition among the best restaurants on Mallorca: YARA has arrived. What awaits you there and why it is worth a trip:
Beautiful Aesthetic
Why foodies on Mallorca should put this new restaurant near Palma on their bucket list becomes clear as soon as they enter. Because the beautiful restaurant also scores with its appearance. There is the large, private and tropical-looking terrace with views of the harbour. There are the yachts that are part of the panorama. And then, of course, there is the sophisticated interior design. Sheela Levy came up with it. She is the co-owner of YARA.
“After running my own retail business for 30 years and being responsible for the visual merchandising of our shops, I went back to school and did a diploma in Imperial Feng Shui and Chinese face reading. I wanted to understand why you are drawn to certain spaces and not others, and understand the science behind intangible energy,” says Sheela Levy. She used this knowledge to give structure to her instincts, taste and style.
The result is one of the most beautiful restaurants on Mallorca. Blue and green are the dominant colours. They seem like an extension of Mallorcan nature. On the walls, palm trees and many plants provide fresh accents. Levy created a design that is balanced, calm, elegant and yet not at all dusty.
Mediterrasian Grill Restaurant on Mallorca
None other than Simon Petutschnig is responsible for the cuisine. As in the sister restaurant FERA in the island capital Palma, he also relies on fresh and regional ingredients in YARA. The ambience of the latter, however, is a little more casual. Here, culinary delicacies are served from the Robata grill in sharing style. Petutschnig is guided by Mediterranean and Asian influences. His motto: “Mediterranean without borders”.
Among other things, Ivan Levy’s delicious Demeter olive oil will be on the plates (and in the pots). He is the third in the group. Together with his wife Sheela, he bought the finca Son Naava in 2010. Here, the ingredients for the wonderful oil grow on 3,000 olive trees.
The wine in “FERA” and “YARA” also comes partly from the Levys. The combination is a hit. YARA is already one of the most popular restaurants on Mallorca. It is located in the southwest of the island at the harbour of Puerto Portals.
