Rovinj/Croatia. Hotel Review Grand Park Hotel Rovinj. Research Stay
The Location
Rovinj is located on the west coast of the Croatian peninsula of Istria. The Grand Park Hotel Rovinj is located directly at the town’s marina. The beautiful beach promenade Lungomare Plaza runs along the front door. There is plenty of parking on site in the hotel’s own underground garage for those coming by car. The nearest airport is Pula. From there it takes about 40 minutes by car to reach the hotel.
Directly opposite is the enchanting island of Sveta Katarina. It’s a leisurely 20-minute walk to the centre of Rovinj. The walk takes you along the water and is full of great Instagram pictures. You will also pass Agli Amici Rovinj (1 Michelin star) and Maestral. Both places are among the best restaurants in Rovinj.
Style & Character
The Grand Park Hotel Rovinj is part of the Maistra Collection. The hotel group stands for great accommodation in the region. This hotel is no exception, on the contrary. The hotel is modern. It celebrated its opening only a few years ago. Due to its construction, you drive up to the lobby at the back of the hotel. It surprises with its spaciousness and offers a view of the sea and the church of Santa Eufemia diagonally opposite through ceiling-high glass walls that extend over several floors. The hotel is almost nestled on a slope, so that there is a view of the water from every room and suite.
The ambience in the entire house is cheerful, friendly, amicable, without ever lacking professionalism. No matter which person you ask for information: All people are eager to share their insider tips. The hotel is high-class and elegant. Nevertheless, you can move around very informally. And nothing is unnecessarily stiff here either.
Amenities & Service
The hotel includes the “Albaro“, one of the top spas in the world. Here you can indulge in the numerous signature treatments. Or enjoy the beneficial effects of various saunas and steam baths. There is also an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. The highlight, however, is definitely the additional outdoor infinity pool. Because from here, the view once again falls on Stari Grad (the old town with the iconic church). This place is pure Instagram gold.
In addition, the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj has its own beach and shuttle service to the island opposite, including a beach club. This is also part of the Maistra Hotels. An excursion is well worth it. In addition, the tennis court is just around the corner. And you can rent bicycles directly at the hotel. You should use them to cruise through the extensive pine forest or to go into town.
Rooms & Suites
As already mentioned at the beginning, the view from the rooms and suites falls out to sea, to the island of Katarina and Stari Grad. The higher up, the better the view, of course. Guests can also look forward to a spacious balcony (excellent sunsets!) – and lots of greenery surrounding the hotel. Inside, natural colours dominate. The rooms are flooded with light. The bathrooms are also particularly beautiful. They score with a free-standing bathtub. The minibar is well stocked.
Food & Drinks
The mornings at the Grand Park Hotel Rovinj start off fantastically. Breakfast is served either in bed or at Laurel & Berry. If you choose this option, with a bit of luck you’ll be sitting on the terrace and have – again – the brilliant view. If you’re thinking: “How many times can I mention the panorama?”, then let me tell you: You just can’t get enough of it. You can eat your fill at the varied and lavish buffet. But this is by no means the only place in the hotel where you can indulge in culinary delights. “Katarina’s Patisserie at the Lungomare Plaza offers espresso, sweets and snacks.
At the cape of the forest park, very close by, you can enjoy pasta, seafood, cocktails, grilled dishes and wines at Grill Lovor. Agli Amici Rovinj, which also belongs to Maistra and is located on Lungomare Plaza, is a Michelin-starred restaurant. It is advisable to book as early as possible. Our absolute highlight, however, is Cap Aureo. For us, it’s one of the best restaurants in the whole city. You can look forward to 5 to 20 courses of pure pleasure.
What we loved …
The location is unique. View? Is amazing. We loved the attention the people paid to us. The rooms are beautiful. The pool! There’s really nothing we wouldn’t love.
… and what we didn’t love
That we had to leave too soon!
Top-Tipps
Primi Terreni Restaurant & Deli offers you not only dishes from the charcoal and lava grill, but also the opportunity to buy delicacies to take home. Key words: black truffle, olive oil, dandelion jam! Also ask at the reception for the cameras.
Because in your room you’ll find a little travel souvenir booklet in which you can stick photos and write thoughts. Be sure to go biking. And go over to Sveta Katerina.
